Now you can tune in Wednesday’s to find a “looks like” article. Oh how fun!

Today’s article is on Rich Preston. Rich Preston is the assistant coach of the Calgary Flames. Preston played many years in the NHL, mostly with the Chicago Blackhawks. Now he’s known for stealing points and taking a playoff spot away from the Colorado Avalanche. He could possibly be known as the Grinch who stole the 8th spot in the Western Conference. (Terrible joke, I know)

With only 9 games left in the regular season the final couple of playoff spots are being fought tooth and nail. I posted two article with one month left in the regular season about who would and would NOT make the playoffs. The Eastern Conference article pointed out that the race was tight. But that’s not what this articles about.

The other article was how the Western Conference was boring and that the final 8 have already been decided. Hold on Tonto, the Lone Ranger hasn’t finished the season yet. The Colorado Avalanche have been making a HUGE push towards the final playoff spot. They’re now 9-0-1 in the last 10 games…. Making this playoff race FAR from boring.
Why do I point this out? Well, mostly because it’s nice to points out when someone was wrong. Even if that someone is me.

Today, I’ll start with the Western Conference mainly because it’s a way easier…

The west has some crazy competition going on and for the past 2 months or so when one team wins or a team loses they can go from 3rd to 8th. This is all due to the structure of the conference and the whole Northwestern Division.

Anyway, here’s my list.

Four goals in one game? Sweet Jebus. It was bad enough the Colorado Avalanche got shut out in their first two games against Anaheim, but then just as they find the net in Game 3, along comes Joffrey Lupul to put the kibosh on any hopes of climbing back into this one. The winger from Fort Saskatchewan beat Jose Theodore four times to power his Ducks to a 4-3 overtime win. That’s not just a hat trick, that’s like a hat, coat, and gloves trick. You might as well just pack your bags now, Avs fans. Oh, that’s right, your team was playing at home.
