They say defense wins championships, but apparently that line of thinking does not apply to college bowl games.

Not only did the two teams combine for 99 points, but the opposing defenses allowed a staggering 1,022 yards, and average of 6.4 yards per play. Just hike the ball a couple times and you’ve got a first down!

And don’t go thinking this was some kind of white-knuckle affair for three hours. The Boilermakers built a 21-point lead in the first half but then allowed the Chippewas to come roaring back in the third quarter.

Is that what they mean when people talk about playing “Big 10 football”?
