Even air hockey has a championship now
We’re less than a month away from the start of the NHL playoffs, and a couple months after that we’ll finally be able to crown another Stanley Cup winner. But if you are the impatient kind and can’t wait that long for a hockey tournament, you can always get in on the World Air Hockey Championship starting at the end of the month.
Put on by the US Air Hockey Association, the tournament is being held in Las Vegas starting March 30th and running through April Fool’s Day. Singles and doubles teams will be vying for $10,000 in cash and prizes, and the tourney is open to anyone.
I know, this sounds about as goofy as a dodgeball tournament, but that made for a funny movie anyway. Who knows, air hockey fever just might sweep the nation. I bet you’ve even got an old Brunswick air hockey table down in the basement your dad bought back in the 70s, so dust it off and get to practicing and you could join the elite ranks of the best air hockey players in the country.
