Joe Gibbs joined an illustrious crowd today becoming the fourth head coach to leave the Washingotn Redskins under the tenure of owner Dan Snyder. Gibbs, the Hall of Fame coach and three-time Super Bowl winner, announced his retirement today just days after the Skins lost to the Seahawks and were eliminated from NFL playoffs.
I’m thinking the conversation between him and Snyder went something like this:
Snyder: Would you like a two-year extension on your contract?
Gibbs: Hell no, I’m too old for this shit.
To his credit, Gibbs outlasted anyone else who’s worked for Snyder. Steve Spurrier hung around two seasons, Norv Turner was fired before the end his second year, and Marty Schottenheimer got the boot after a single campaign.
A wizard of blogging and sports the likes of which you've never seen. Or, you know, some dude talking out is butt about sports.
