MLB is grudgingly entering the 21st century to at least some tiny extent, with owners voting 25-5 to implement limited instant replay for the first time.
Umps will now be able to consult the magic cameras and wonderous talking television monitors for boundary calls — whether potential home runs are fair or foul, whether balls go over fences or hit the top and bounce back, and whether fans interfere with possible homers.
The primary opponent of instant replay? None other than Mr. Bud Selig.
Bud is highly concerned that instant replay will cause games to run longer: “I don’t like instant replay because I don’t like all the delays. I think it sometimes creates as many problems or more than it solves.”
“As a 1,026 year old man, I’m not getting any younger, and there’s lots more important shit I could be doing with my time.”
(Bud Selig may not have actually said all of the above words attributed to him.)
An original oddsnark founding member, but has since fallen by the wayside.
