Game ball goes to: After watching the defense do the bulk of the scoring last week, Minnesota’s offense finally got a chance to shine when Visanthe Shiancoe caught a touchdown pass in the first half.
Key his Escalade: The Viking’s lone touchdown pass was thrown by wide receiver Bobby Wade and not QB Tavaris Jackson.
Browns 17, Broncos 16
Game ball goes to: Chaun Thompson stopped running back Selvin Young on a two-point try to save the game for the Browns.
Key his Escalade: Denver’s starting defense has allowed six touchdowns and three field goals in 15 possessions during the pre-season.
Cowboys 16, Texans 28
Game ball goes to: Rookie Jacoby Jones returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown and caught a 19-yard pass from Matt Schaub for another Houston TD just before halftime.
Key his Escalade: Tony Romo fumbled a snap and got drilled by Mario Williams early in the game; he also threw an interception.
Jets 20, Giants 12
Game ball goes to: Kellen Clemens led the J-E-T-S on two scoring drives in the third quarter, completing six of eight passes for 122 yards. He also scored a touchdown on a quarterback sneak.
Key his Escalade: Chad Pennington hooked up with Leon Washington for a 79-yard Jets touchdown on the first play of the game but was otherwise unimpressive.
49ers 28, Bears 31
Game ball goes to: Sexy Rex Grossman completed 13 of 20 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
Key his Escalade: Grossman also fumbled another snap and threw an interception that Walt Harris returned 52 yards for a San Francisco score.
Ravens 7, Redskins 13
Game ball goes to: Rookie LB Dallas Sartz scored Washington’s only touchdown in the third quarter when he took an interception from Kyle Boller three yards into the end zone.
Key his Escalade: Mother Nature got bored with this game and put on an electrical storm, forcing officials to halt the contest with 11:38 remaining in the third quarter. She’s so selfish sometimes.
Buccaneers 31, Dolphins 28
Game ball goes to: Bruce Gradkowski led two scoring drives for Tampa Bay in the fourth quarter, connecting with Earnest Graham and Paris Warren for touchdowns.
Key his Escalade: Trent Green had just 42 yards passing and threw an interception in the first quarter that Cato June returned two yards for a touchdown.
Lions 10, Colts 37
Game ball goes to: The Indianapolis offense was good for more than 400 yards as Peyton Manning and Jim Sorgi combined for five touchdown passes.
Key his Escalade: It looks like it’s going to be another long, long season for Detroit fans. When, oh when will Matt Millen get fired?
