Boxing promoter extraordinaire and world famous Flowbee user Don King is close to setting up a bout between retired middleweight champion FĂ©lix Trinidad and former heavyweight champ Roy Jones Jr. According to the AP, King is calling this match “the people’s championship,” so I guess that makes him the Georges Danton of the boxing world?
Trinidad, who is 42-2 in his career, retired in 2005 after losing a bout to Winky Wright; Jones is 51-4 after losing his last fight against Antonio Tarver in 2004. There’s no firm date yet for the bout but King is reportedly trying to schedule the fight in January, so if seeing a couple guys who haven’t fought in the past couple years beat each other about the head and shoulders is your thing, then start saving your pennies now for the pay-per-view.
For those of you who have no idea who these people are or what this is all about, check out this video of Jones Jr. and this one of Trinidad.
