Just like the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill back in 89 the Anaheim Ducks are furious at the Oil of Edmonton. The General Manager, Kevin Lowe, of the Oilers made a desperation attempt to acquire Dustin Penner. Penner was offered a five year $22.5 Million offer as a restricted free agent. The Ducks had until yesterday to match the offer. But just like in 89 the Ducks were covered in oil and hating the Oil Producing companies and unable to match the offer.
So now Penner is an Oiler. How is this going to affect the Oilers you may ask? Probably about as much as acquiring Geoffery Lupul from the Ducks back in the Pronger trade last year… Or for those of you who have no clue what I’m talking about. not much. Penner is a rough tough solid player… but over 4 million a year for him… ummm. How about, no?
