They know how celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Michgan

St. Patrick’s Day is maybe the best holiday after Christmas, New Year’s and Thanksgiving. It’s all about being Irish and celebrating everything Irish: Irish history, Irish music, Irish drink, and even the Irish compunction to fight one another. So did Michigan football players Carson Butler and Christian Richards III really do anything bad this year?

Okay, so maybe they had been hoisting a few Guinesses in celebration, went to some dorm room on the Ann Arbor campus, and beat the living tar out of some underclassman. It was all in the spirit of the holiday, man. Who doesn’t get into a good fight on St. Paddy’s Day?

Well, this didn’t sound so much like a fight as a good, old fashioned beat down. The 20-year old victim had to be taken to the University hospital after Butler and Richards allegedly punched him repeatedly. According to the AP report, the victim said he did’t know why he was attacked, but come on, if you get an ass-whooping that bad, something went down. I’m pretty sure he must’ve said to one of the players something like, “More men have been inside your mum than in Trinity College.”

Ah, St. Patrick’s. Remember kids, it’s not all shamrocks and clover leafs, half moons and and diamonds.
