Big freakin’ deal: Texans trade for Schaub

In perhaps the biggest deal of its short existence, the Houston Texans have agreed to a trade with the Falcons for quarterback Matt Schuab. According to ESPN — and they are the worldwide leader in sports you know — the Texans will swap first round picks with Atlanta and give up their second pick in both 2007 and 2008 for the 25-year old signal caller.

I can hear it now. Reliant Stadium booming with the chants of, “Schaub, Schaub, Schaub!” Oh, yeah, baby, with 30-year old, fumble-prone Ahman Green in the backfield and now the mighty Matt Schaub under center, Houston is going to be the team to beat this year. I’m predicting they go all the way.

Kinda sucks for David Carr, though, especially when just last year the franchise signed him to an extension, passing on Vince Young, and basically said, “You’re our franchise QB for the next decade.” Hope he didn’t blow all that dough on a brand new house in the Houston area.

Get ready, Houston. There’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Matt Schaub. Matt Schaub. That just sounds like a championship-winning name, doesn’t it? If I was a Texans fan, I would be so freaking psyched for this season.
