So Dallas is on a little bit of a roll, winning their last 15 consecutive games and 50 of their first 55 games, after starting the season 0-4. And I’d normally say they had their heads on straight (and properly deflated) about it, too, but this quote is a little odd:
“Having a record is always great,” Nowitzki said. “It means you’ve done something that’s never been done before. But we’re not focused on the streaks. If we go 82-0, it doesn’t mean anything if we don’t win the championship. We know we have a lot of work to do until then.”
To be fair, I get what you mean, Dirky. You’re saying what all coaches want you to say, that you’re focused on a championship. But I also think that running the table and going 82-0 would mean a little something, even if you didn’t win the championship. Every single year some team wins the championship, but I think it’s safe to say that the NBA will never, ever see a team go undefeated.
But, umm, yeah. Go Mavs!
