Top musher Lance Mackey arrived in Fairbanks, Alaska this past week to claim his third-consecutive victory in the Yukon Quest dog sled race. Even more impressive, Mackey completed the 1,600 kilometer race in 10 days and two and a half hours, shattering the previous record by 13 hours. (What, did he have a heat shield on the front of that sled?) Even more impressive still, after surviving more than a week in -32 C weather, he’s headed to Anchorage to compete in the Iditarod, which begins in just six days. Okay, maybe that’s not really so much impressive as it is stone cold crazy. But hey, good luck to you Lance and stay warm, huh?
