Top ranked women’s golfer Annika Sorenstam caused a bit of a ruckus this past week when she intimated in an interview with a Swedish newspaper that she might be thinking about retirement and starting a family. Now, she says the comments were taken out of context and that retirement and family is not in her immediate future. According to the AP, she said in a statement:
“I am not announcing my retirement and I am not announcing the start of a family,” Sorenstam said Friday. “I am very much looking forward to the start of the 2007 season and the various business ventures that I’ve become involved in.”
So there you go. No retirement. No family. Just golf. Except does anyone really care? I know she’s the top ranked player and all, but would she really be missed on the tour? Now, if someone really hot, like Natalie Gulbis say, announced she was retiring, that would be sad news.

Please Natalie, don’t retire yet. Please.
