SAN DIEGO, CA - Following his team’s 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots, Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer told reporters in the locker room he fucking hates kickers.
“Kickers?” Schottenheimer retorted to a reporter’s question after the game. “I fucking hate ‘em. They’re all worthless pieces of shit. I wouldn’t trust a kicker farther than I could throw one.”
The San Diego coach’s comments came just moments after Nate Kaeding missed a 54-yard field goal attempt with two seconds remaining that would have sent the game into overtime. Kaeding also missed a 40-yard attempt in overtime that would have sealed a Chargers win over the New York Jets in the 2004 playoffs, the last time San Diego was in the post-season.
After ranting about kickers for a good five minutes, Schottenheimer was seen brandishing a knife and chasing Kaeding around the team’s locker room, and had to be subdued by teammates and coaches. “I’ll fucking kill you, you damn kicker!” the 63-year-old coach reportedly screamed.
