Howdy, folks. Shore is good to be up here in Seattle. It’s a mighty perdy place. Now I know some of you have been worried that I might up and steal your basketball team and take it back to Oklahoma with me, but I want to assure you that this is not the case. I came up here and shook hands with Howard Schultz to buy the Seattle SuperSonics, and I intend to keep the team right here in Seattle. Really. Because the team is called the Seattle SuperSonics and Oklahoma SuperSonics just doesn’t sound nearly as good. Oklahoma SoonerSonics, maybe. Ha ha, that’s just a little joke. Seriously, just because the good people of Oklahoma City paid $90 million to build the Ford Center and have nothing to put in it except a minor league hockey team and arena football is no reason for me to move the Sonics anywhere. Just because the Hornets had one of their best years in terms of ticket sales while playing their home games in Oklahoma City, even though the team itself was stinking up the joint, does not mean I will be relocating the Sonics anytime soon. I love Seattle and I love the KeyArena, even though it is old and tiny compared to other NBA arenas, and even though under our current lease there is no way for the team to make any money there. I love it here and the Sonics are staying. Really. Honestly. I would not lie to y’all.
