Nadal Nearly Chokes But Mathieu Loses

The defending French Open champ had to retreat from the court during the third set of an epic five-hour battle against 29th seeded Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu because he was choking on a piece of plantain. Eventually the trouble passed and the Spaniard was able to return and defeat his French opponent in four sets. Perhaps Nadal will switch to Smoothies or something else a little less solid when he faces Aussie bad boy Lleyton Hewitt in the fourth round on Monday.
