You Can’t Roller Skate, Or Lead A Dog Team, Through A Buffalo Herd

The challenges of mushing in the Iditarod Trail Dog Sled Race include wind, bitter cold, and apparently buffalo. In a video clip posted on the official Iditarod site, Aliy Zirkle tells a harrowing tale of running into one of the wooly beasts along the trail. Her team came to dead stop and the buffalo threatened to charge, but luckily a plane with photographers spotted the standoff and swooped in low for a good shot, scaring the animal away.
