oddJosh issues fatwa against ESPN, Sportsline, others

Inspired by oddJoe’s righteous defense of his Iditarod coverage against the Deadspin infidels, oddsnark co-founder oddJosh today declared war against major sports outlets ESPN, CBS Sportsline, Fox Sports, and others. A portion of his statement follows:

This is only the beginning. I’m sick and tired of these guys stealing my stories. A few days ago I posted about the Gatti-Damgaard fight, and shortly after a friend alerted me that ESPN’s Dan Rafael had a whole damn story about the fight. I started looking around — and I’m not exaggerating here — EVERY site I looked at with boxing coverage had a story about the fight. And this isn’t the first time this has happened. Back in December members of the oddsnark staff posted their picks for the BCS bowl games, and I’ll be damned if Sportsline, ESPN, and every other sports site on the Web didn’t have a similar feature.

I’m fed up. I didn’t have the balls to back up oddJoe when he accused Sportsline of ripping off our Rate the Mate posts (ground seemed a little shaky considering a number of our photos were clearly marked with a Sports Illustrated stamp), but I’m starting to see things differently. In fact, screw limiting myself to sports-related sites. Playboy.com, I’m coming after you next. We invented the whole sex-sells thing, you thieving bastards…!

oddJosh continued his verbal attack for another hour, leveling accusations at targets ranging from Jesus Christ to Wikipedia before fellow bloggers finally subdued him with a taser. When asked if oddJosh’s employment might now be in jeopardy, another member of the oddsnark staff offered an ambiguous assessment. “oddJosh? Hell, I don’t know. Dude hardly posts. Whatever.”
