Payton’s Place In The Big Not So Easy

Dallas Cowboys assistant Sean Payton has landed a new job, but instead of a congratulations note you might want to send a good luck card. ESPN is reporting that Payton will be offered the head coaching job at the New Orleans Saints, taking over a team that went 3-13 and played every game last year on the road following the devastation of hurricane Katrina. And the prospects for the Saints to find a permanent base are not very rosy, though the league and the city have both vowed to have the Super Dome ready for home games by November. Add into the mix team owner Tom Benson, the most hated man in Louisiana and constant rumors swirling around the team about a move to Los Angeles to San Antonio, and you have the makings of perhaps the worst head coaching job in all of pro football. So, you better make it one of those cards with the kitten hanging from a branch that encourages, “Hang in there, baby.”
