New York Islanders coach Steve Stirling will become the latest casualty of the season after his team dropped their third in a row Tuesday night against Nashville. According to the AP, general manager Mike Milbury will announce Stirling’s ouster on Thursday and put an interim coach in place. The 2-1 loss to the Predators dropped the Isles to 18-22-2 and out of playoff contention. Hired in 2003, Stirling is the eighth head coach Milbury has dismissed in his 10-year tenure as New York’s GM, during which the Islanders have failed to win a playoff series. Hey, Detroit Lions fans, does this MM sound like any MM you might know?
