Mularkey Sees Writing on the Wall, Eventually

Bills coach Mike Mularkey has submitted his resignation to owner Ralph Wilson, a move that comes 8 days after President and GM Tom Donahoe was fired and 6 days after 5 of his assistants were also let go. Among the assistants fired were offensive coordinator Tom Clements and the entire defensive staff except coordinator Jerry Gray.

Gray might have been spared a similar fate so as not to reflect negatively while he interviews for various head coaching positions around the league, or he might be the top candidate to replace Mularkey. (The NFL Rumor Mill makes up for its lack of consistency and clarity with oodles of silliness.) In any event, it does not appear that he will return to Buffalo in the same capacity.

Anyhoo, Mularkey has apparently given “undisclosed family reasons” as the official impetus for his resignation. Those of us here at oddSnark assume The Family Mularkey are displaying an entirely reasonable aversion to a lame duck status that surely has nowhere positive to go.
