Kudos to Bruce Sutter, who punched an overdue ticket to Cooperstown today. Jim Rice and Goose Gossage should be joining him, but they’ll have to postpone travel plans for now, as both fell short of the votes they needed to climb aboard the Baseball Hall of Fame trolley.
Shockingly, Walt Weiss only garnered one vote, and won’t be on the ballot next year. Ditto for other luminaries such as Greg Jefferies, Doug Jones, Rick Aguilera, John Wetteland, Will Clark, and Hal Morris.
(I’m sorry, but what the fuck? Is Koko the Fucking Gorilla allowed a ballot these days? What does Koko sign to signify a vote for Walt Weiss, 2-5-8, his career batting average?)
