Because out here in the Provinces we too know what it’s like to lose, and we know that comfort can be found in the successes of alumni and friends. So, herewith, NFL Playoff Football playing USC Trojans:
Willie McGinest ripped shit up on Saturday night against Jacksonville. McGinest was a beast setting 2 Playoff records simultaneously with his 4 1/2 sacks (the most ever in 1 playoff game) that gave him 16 for his career (the most ever for 1 player in the playoffs). He totaled 6 tackles with 2 assists.
Teammate Matt Cassel managed to get in the game, handing off to run down the clock and taking a knee for a yard loss to end the game.
Wide Receiver Keary Colbert caught 2 for 31 (including a 25 yarder) inthe Panthers thrashing of the New York Giants.
In the same game return man Giants Chad Morton ran for 5 yards on his one punt return and totaled 122 yards on 6 kickoff returns with a long of 28.
Buccaneers cornerback Brian Kelly had a tackle in Tampa’s loss to the Redskins.
In sad Trojan news, Carson Palmer blew out his knee on his first pass play (apparently a torn ACL and a torn MCL that will put him out for the next 5 months or so but able to return for training camp). That 1 pass, though, was a pretty 66 yard completion to rookie Chris Henry. Still it wasn’t all that sad because Palmer just recently signed a contract extension that pays him in gold coins stacked as high as Paul Brown Stadium. So, ya know, at least he’ll be able to rehab in comfort.
Fellow Bengal Ifeanyi Ohalete had 4 tackles.
And Palmer’s one time roommate at USC, Steeler safety Troy Polamalu, had 4 tackles, two assists, half a sack, and crazy long hair flowing out his helmet.
