Meet The Mushers: Rachael Scdoris
I would need to be blind drunk to agree to run the Iditarod, but Rachael is running the Last Great Race and she’s just plain blind. Born with Congenital Achromatopsia, this 20-year-old native of Bend, Oregon, has nonetheless excelled in several sports. She was captain of both her high school track and cross country teams and helped carry the torch to Salt Lake City for the opening of the Olympic Games. Rachael started mushing when she was just three and now operates a sled dog touring business. She entered the Iditarod last year but had to scratch.
