The Minnesota Vikings made the first big move of the post-season coaching carousel, firing head coach Mike Tice following his team’s 34-10 victory over the Chicago Bears. Tice helmed the Norse Longboat for four full seasons, compiling a record of 33-34, including a 1-1 mark in the playoffs. The Vikes streaked to six straight wins this season after a 2-6 start, but dropped two late season games and fell out of contention for the playoffs. In addition to a lack of post season productivity, Tice’s tenure was marred by Randy Moss’ on and off the field antics, a $100,000 fine from the league for scalping his Super Bowl tickets, and this season’s infamous pleasure cruise that resulted in misdemeanor charges against four players. Joe Rockhead, you will be missed.
