Terry has been with the Iditarod from the beginning. Okay, maybe not back when the Iditarod Trail was actually a supply route, but he did help out as a veterinarian during the first trail race in 1973. Terry entered the race the next year and has finished seventeen times since then. Twice he has placed in the top 10, back in 1984 and 1986, and his last race was in 1998. Terry was named an honorary musher in 2004, a distinction usually reserved for historical figures in the sport who have passed away, so he figured it was time to get back on the trail to show everyone he was still alive and kicking. He enjoys hunting, gardening, horses, and, oh yes, dogs.
