Meet The Mushers: Rick Swenson

Rick is a real legend among Iditarod mushers, for two reasons. First, he’s the only five-time champion. Second, he’s totally hooked up with hot musher-babe Kelly Williams. Rick is originally from Minnesota and moved to Alaska in 1973. He entered the Iditarod in 1976, placing 10th, then proceeded to win it the first time the following year. Another victory came in 1979, and then back-to-back victories came in 1981 and 1982. During the rest of the 80s, Rick was a consistent top 10 finisher until 1991 when he won The Last Great Race for the last time. He has only scratched twice in his career and the farthest back he has ever finished was 19th place in 2002. And did I mention he’s totally hooked up with that hot musher-babe Kelly Williams? Damn.
