Sabres 2, Flyers 1, SO
In the penalty box: the over.
Islanders 6, Maple Leafs 9
In the penalty box: the under. Extra minutes for Terry Sawchuk for falling to third in all-time career victories, but send both Ed Belfour and Rick DiPietro for giving up so damn many points on a night when a goal tending milestone was set.
Stars 1, Wild 2
In the penalty box: the former North Stars, for being 8-8-1 against their Twin Cities replacements.
Flames 4, Oilers 5
In the penalty box: the Flames defense, for melting in the third period and giving up three unanswered goals.
Kings 4, Canucks 3, SO
In the penalty box: Vancouver’s General Motors Place. What, GM couldn’t get naming rights in Detroit so they picked Vancouver, Canada, off the map?

oddJoe’s hockey picks
The Nashville Predators have the league’s best home record at 15-3-0 and come into tonight’s contest riding a two-game winning streak. Too bad those wins were against sagging Chicago and Columbus or they might mean something. During a recent trip to the Sunshine State, the Preds lost to Tampa and the woeful Panthers. The Avalanche, meanwhile, are coming off a big road win against the Rangers and have a better power play than Nashville, which will come in handy. Best line: Colorado +120 at Nine.com.
Anaheim defeated San Jose 5-4 two nights ago, snapping a six-game winning streak for the Sharks. Very little has changed since then, except that when they meet tonight it’ll be in Northern California. The Ducks are better on special teams defense and bring better goal tending. I’m liking Anaheim to be mighty tonight. Best line: Anaheim +160 at 5 Dimes.
