Meet The Mushers: Aliy Zirkle

Aliy is a New England Yankee who came to Alaska in 1990 for a job with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. A trained biologist, she started mushing in 1993 and entered her first Iditarod Trail Race in 2001. Last year she placed 11th, he best finish yet in The Last Great Race. She and her husband, Allen Moore, run Skunk’s Place Kennel in Town Rivers, which is probably a good occupation since she says her hobbies include raising friendly, happy puppies.
