Meet The Mushers: Ramy Brooks

Okay, just close up shop and go home, ’cause there’s no way anyone can compete with Ramy. Check out these facts:

• He was born in Alaska and raised on the Yukon River; he’s part Yupik Eskimo and part Athabascan Indian.
• His great grandfather, Arthur Wright, was an interpreter for Hudson Stuck, the Archdeacon of the Yukon, and traveled throughout the region by dog sled.
• Both his grandfather, Gareth Wright, and his mother, Roxy Wright, have won mushing championships.
• And check out the photos on his Web site; Ramy’s kind of a hunk. (Sorry ladies, he’s married.)

So, needless to say, Ramy has basically been mushing his whole life. He ran his first Iditarod in 1994 and he finished in second place in 2002 and 2003. What a stud. Not sure what Yupik is for stud, but he’s that, too.
