The AP is reporting that Miguel Tejada is, wonder of wonders, not happy in Baltimore, and wants to be traded.
“I’ve been with the Orioles for two years and things haven’t gone in the direction that we were expecting, so I think the best thing will be a change of scenery,” Tejada told The Associated Press during a telephone interview.
“I’ve done many things with this team and I haven’t seen results, and the other teams are getting stronger while the Orioles have not made any signings to strengthen the club.”
Many things, Miggy? Huh. If you count putting up good numbers for all of two years and slipping poor Raffy a steroid mickey, then yeah, I suppose you have indeed done many things with the Orioles. Plus the Orioles did just sign Ramon Hernandez, one of the better free agents catchers on the market.
But hey, we’ll take you at your word, because you seem like a decent enough guy. We won’t even insinuate that your ears perked up when you heard the BoSox had traded Renteria, and were suddenly in need of a shortstop.
Because, you know, you signed a 6 year, $72 million dollar contract before the 2004 season with Baltimore, and there’s no way you’d just be grubbing for more money from a team like Boston, which has proven willing to shell out some big bucks.
Of course not.
