New York’s Daily News (Motto: The Third Option) is reporting that the Yankees, the NEW YORK mothereffin YANKEES, lost between fifty and eighty-five million dollars for the 2005 season.
There are a lot of zeroes in numbers like those. And apparently that might not be all. MLB is looking into how much Steinbrenner and his Boys accounted for the YES Network. They think perhaps that the Yankees have even more they need to kick into the kitty. Said one MLB goon, “They’re going to owe us money.”
No word yet on whether Selig prefers to break legs with a tire iron or deliver his beatings with oranges in a pillow case. But Steinbrenner is a thoroughbred owner, so there’s no telling what’s gonna be there in his bed when he wakes up.
