My Grey Cup Runneth Over

All of Canada is getting set for the 93rd annual Grey Cup, pitting the Montreal Alouettes against the Edmonton Eskimos. Montreal dispatched the Toronto Argonauts last week 33-17 in the CFL Eastern Conference championship while the Eskis overcame the BC Lions 28-23 to catch the Western Conference crown. During the regular season the Alouettes stacked up 5,824 yards passing on the arm of Anthony Calvillo. But Edmonton’s defense was third in the league against the pass and second in points allowed. The old adage that defense wins championships also holds true in the Great White North, so the Eskis (-1 1/2 -110 at Nine.com) get the nod.

Programming notes: famously stacked Canadian starlet and former Tommy Lee spouse Pamela Anderson will be the Grand Marshall of the Save-On Foods Grey Cup Festival Parade today and halftime entertainment will be provided by that great Canadian band The Black Eyed Peas.
