This Man Shouldn’t Be Making Final Four Picks

…and yet he does so anyway.

Duke just got through with its first game and win of the season, looking for all the world like the No. 1 team in its first game of the season. Which is to say a little ragged, but still a 17-point winner. We got to see J.J. Redick looking the same, a little ragged from the outside (no 3-pointers for the first time in 21 games) but still high scorer with some nifty moves both with and without the ball. I still think someone named Shelden should be doing my taxes (apologies to Members of the Tribe for that) but Williams looked strong on occasion. And I got to see Greg Paulus — he of the Top 5 Recruit designation at both quarterback and point guard — for the first time. He looked like a guy you could really grow to hate, so he’s got that going for him. Boston U., meanwhile, could accurately be described as plucky.

Anyhoo, on to the ridiculous predictions from a guy who shouldn’t be making them, especially in a forum that saves these types of things to be referred back to:

I won’t insult you by naming the eventual champion, but you should you should start preparing yourself now for an historic double-double.
